IUOE Local 987 represents a large number of public sector workers employed by rural municipalities (i.e. local government authorities) throughout the province of Manitoba. At present, we have bargaining units at 26 different municipalities.

Local 987 members perform a variety of publics works functions including maintaining municipal roads (snow plowing and grading), road and bridge construction, installation of drainage culverts, road signs, etc. At some municipalities, Local 987 also represents the clerical workers in the administration office.
