Winnipeg Hospitals & Winnipeg Regional Health Authority Update

Since the Conservative government announced that they would be looking at cutting healthcare bargaining units early in 2017, we have been diligently involved in communicating with the public and rallying for our members and all healthcare workers in Manitoba.

With 2018 underway, we would like to offer a short update for our membership on Winnipeg Hospitals and the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority.

Phase 1 of the WRHA Consolidation of Services has been completed and many sites were affected by the changes put forth in this process. OE987 A Maintenance & Trades staff members remained intact, virtually unaffected in Phase 1. OE987 D Misericordia Health Centre Support Staff members saw minimal disruption and impact on their employment in comparison with some of the other sites.

Overall the healthcare model in Winnipeg and Manitoba is changing in 2018. OE987 will continue to partake in the joint WRHA/Union meetings and will represent you throughout this process.

On the bargaining front, there has been little to no progress as efforts have been concentrated on the Consolidation process.

We will keep you updated as conversations progress.

In solidarity,

Marc Lafond
