⇒ 987 Pipeline Construction
OE987 acts as a hiring hall* for our members who work on pipeline construction projects throughout Manitoba.
OE987 is responsible for equipment operation for all new pipeline construction and regular maintenance of existing pipelines for safe operation throughout Manitoba. Laying large diameter pipe in some of Canada's harshest terrains and environments requires highly specialized equipment operators. Our members bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to every job.

⇒ 987 Crane Rental and Industrial Construction Projects
Members of OE987 work as equipment operators for construction companies engaged in a wide variety of construction projects. They operate many types of equipment in this industry including cranes, backhoes, loaders, dozers, graders, scrapers, and more.

⇒ 987A Building/Equipment Maintenance
OE987’s membership includes employees who maintain facilities and equipment. They include power engineers, electricians, plumbers, carpenters, painters and building maintenance workers at workplaces in the public and private sectors such as universities, high rise office towers, hospitals, hotels, convention centres, public housing facilities, recreation centres and industrial plants.

⇒ 987B General Construction and Road Building
Members are employed in the construction industry for general contractors in sewer and waterline installation, road building, foundation and piling, and industrial mechanical. 987B members are able to access the hiring hall.*

⇒ 987B Manufacturing and Processing
Local 987 members are employed at industrial sites where the company is involved in the recovery, recycling and processing of scrap metal and plastic and in the production and delivery of ready-mix concrete.

⇒ 987B Equipment Repair/Rental and Transportation
Local 987 members work for companies involved in the maintenance, repair and rental of industrial and construction equipment. We also represent short-haul and long-haul truck drivers and truck mechanics.

⇒ 987C Rural Municipalities, Villages and Towns
This unit is made up of public sector workers employed by rural municipalities (i.e. local government authorities) throughout the province. Currently, we have 40 bargaining units in different municipalities.
OE987 members perform a variety of public works functions including maintaining municipal roads (snowplowing and grading), road and bridge construction, installation of drainage culverts, road signs, water treatment/distribution, finance/administration, landfills and more.

⇒ 987D Housing
OE987 represents over 100 Manitobans working in public housing. This includes both Manitoba Housing Renewal Corporation, and the Winnipeg Housing Rehabilitation Corporation. Our members hold a variety of positions including: Superintendent, groundskeeper, caretaker, leasing agents, clerical support, property managers, finance officers, and maintenance.

⇒ 987D Personal Care Homes
Local 987D members are employed in the health care field, working in personal care homes in Winnipeg and rural Manitoba. Our members work in jobs including: Health care aides, housekeeping, laundry, and dietary aides.
