Membership Responsibilities

Your Membership:

As a member, it is your responsibility to keep your membership in good standing (by keeping your membership dues paid up-to-date) to maintain your status in the out-of-work list (if applicable to you), to retain access to the union’s Health and Welfare Plan (if applicable to you), and to be eligible for benefits and membership awards offered by the union.

*

Changes to Employment:

If you have any change of employment (laid off, on leave, quit, etc.), please let the OE987 office know. Sometimes, the office is not notified of changes to your employment by the employer and we miss the opportunity to review options pertaining to your membership that best suits your situation.

*

Code of Conduct:

All OE987 members are expected to adhere to the OE987 Code of Conduct in their behaviours and communications. Please ensure to review this document carefully.

*

Out-of-Work List:

If you are on our out-of-work list, you must maintain your membership in good standing and check in with our office every month to remain on the list.

*

Travel Cards:

All members working in another provincial jurisdiction are required to contact the union office for a Travel Card and maintain their membership dues with Local 987 to keep your membership with us in good standing. All working dues deducted by Operating Engineers Locals in other provinces are not reciprocated back to the home local (987) but remain with the Local whose jurisdiction members work under.  it is also your responsibility to let us know once you've returned from your Travel Card so we can promptly put you back on the Out-of-Work list (if applicable to you).

Changes to Your Contact Information:

We want to make sure you are well informed about union activities, contract updates, and membership events! Please make sure to contact our office if you have any changes to your contact information (address, email, phone number).

Call us at 204-786-8658 or 1-800-292-9940 (toll-free) or email us at local987@oe987.mb.ca.
