National Day of Mourning – April 28, 2022
editToday, April 28th is the National Day of Mourning. This day is to remember and honour the workers who have died on the job and those that suffer from a work-related injury or illness. Every year, approximately 1,000 Canadian workers and more than 2.7 million workers around the world die because of an incident that happens on the job.
Please join the Manitoba Federation of Labour in marking this National Day. The Safe Workers of Tomorrow (SWOT) Leaders’ Walk will begin at 11:30 AM, leaving from the Union Centre and proceeding down Broadway to the new Workers Memorial at Memorial Park.
OE987 attended the Day of Mourning ceremony at Memorial Park today and and saw the unveiling of the new Workers Memorial.
Everyone has a right to safe work and we all must work together and ensure that.
