OE987 hoisting and portable members are required to have 3 months worth of out-of-work dues paid in advance at all times. Why? By keeping your membership dues paid in advance, it provides you with a buffer to protect your membership and keep you eligible for benefits.

  • In most cases, your benefit package is tied to your union membership and your membership must be in good standing for your benefits to remain active.
  • You might find you are working between projects, or even just forget to make a payment one month. Advance dues help to carry you through those times.
  • It also makes sure your membership account does not go into arrears and accumulate late fees.
  • Moreover, it ensures there is no break in your membership so you can be eligible for membership awards and benefits.
  • If you are using the out-of-work list, you must ensure your membership is in good standing to remain on the list.

Keep in mind that if you ever do choose to leave the union, any advance out-of-work dues you paid are refunded to you.

Also, the dues you pay are 100% tax deductible.
